Kristen Chapman Gibbons started with us during the summer, and quickly established herself as a key member of our team. She handles the blogging for our clients, and has interviewed many of you to get a better idea of how you do your business. Her background includes a wide range of educational and professional experiences, and I think you will enjoy getting to know more about Kristen!
Jonathan Sanders: How long have you been with Spark Marketer?
Kristen Chapman Gibbons: I started on July 7 of this year.
JS: What educational and professional experience do you bring to your work with Spark Marketer?
KCG: It’s going to make no sense at all, but I have a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services from Carson-Newman College in east Tennessee. I also have a Master’s degree in Religion, and I’ve worked as a social worker for 12 years. After that, I transitioned into teaching at the university level for the next 10 years, so I come from a helping type profession. I help people come up with the narrative they want to tell about themselves.
JS: What role, or roles, do you play here at Spark Marketer?
KCG: My official title is Content Creator, but I essentially manage all of the blogs. We have various contract bloggers that send us work, and then we optimize it. I call it Google-bait. We Google-bait it!
JS: What is your favorite thing about what you personally bring to our clients?
KCG: I think I’m a good communicator, and I think I put other people at ease. Because of that, I can find out the gist of what other people want to say. Without putting a lot of pressure on them, I can help them articulate what they want to say about their business, their web presence, and what kind of people they are outside of business.
JS: I believe movies can reveal a lot about our personalities. What are your favorites?
KCG: My favorite film of all time has to be Rebel Without a Cause with James Dean and Natalie Wood. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen that film. I also love The Man With Two Brains, Young Frankenstein, and Star Wars, of course. I like a lot of Science-Fiction and Fantasy films as well. I kind of like everything…except Westerns. No Westerns!
JS: If you could see anyone in concert, dead or alive, or any point in time, who would it be?
KCG: I’m going to go with the Beatles. Because I was born post-Beatles heyday, and they’re probably my favorite band…tied with U2. I’ve seen U2 a couple of times, and I’ll never be able to see the Beatles. So I’ll say, the Beatles.
JS: What’s the best book you’ve read recently?
KCG: Well…I’m three books in to the Game of Thrones series, and they’ve been really, really good. I don’t normally read fantasy books, but I’ve really enjoyed them.
JS: What did you listen to in the car on the way to the office today?
KCG: Lana Del Ray. I made a Vine about it.
JS: Do you have any pets? What are they, and what are their names?
KCG: I have 1 dog who will turn a year old soon, and his name is Obi. He’s a beagle/something else mix. Santa brought him for my children for Christmas last year. He is a loving, sweet, fun-loving dog. He likes to go on adventures, but he always comes back.
